About
I’m Tom Wentworth, CMO at incident.io. We build the incident response and on-call platform that engineering teams actually like using.
Before incident.io, I spent nearly five years as CMO at Recorded Future, where we grew the business from $90M to over $350M in ARR. Earlier stops: CMO at RapidMiner, SVP Product Marketing at Acquia, and — a long time ago — a software engineer who learned to code on a TI-99/4a. I’ve been an engineer-turned-CMO for most of my career, and I think it’s the most useful kind of marketer to be right now.
This blog is where I write about building modern marketing teams: what’s actually working, what isn’t, and how AI is rewriting the playbook. The question I’m most obsessed with these days: how small a marketing team can you run if every person on it is leveraged with AI? At incident.io we’re a team of 9, and most of my time goes into building the systems — a centralized GTM-context library, a swarm of agents, even a custom AI CMO — that let a small team punch well above its weight.
My rule of thumb for marketing in 2026: Marketing Output = AI × Taste². AI is a multiplier; taste compounds.
I used to host the Scaleup Marketing podcast, where I interviewed marketers I wanted to learn from.
